Earlier this week, Kathreen of Whipup sent me a copy of her
April Action Pack. It's Whipup's second issue of Action Pack and it's absolutely crammed with fun things for kids to do: crafts, gardening, drawing, and recipes. A few of my favorites: seed bombs made with recycled paper pulp, a self watering pot made from a plastic soda bottle and ideas for dying Easter eggs using natural dyes.
The philosophy behind Action Pack is to get kids up from in front of the TV and doing something active, creative, fun and (dare I say it?) educational. The former elementary school teacher in me couldn't approve more!
The instructions are beautifully photographed and illustrated. Most elementary age children who are proficient readers should be able to do the activities with minimal adult supervision and many of them would be fun for a older child or adult to do with preschoolers or early readers.
April Action Pack is 30 pages long and according to my count contains: 5 craft projects, 3 gardening projects, 1 science experiment, 6 recipes, a drawing lesson and several printables. In other words, enough things to do to keep a curious, creative kid busy for days.
You can purchase it at
Whipup (it comes as a PDF download).
